On the land
Good to know
A few things about the site and how to keep it good for everyone.
- Getting infinal 3–4 miles
- A well-graded dirt road, not a rock crawl, so most vehicles (sedans included) will be fine. Towing a trailer? Keep it under 16–20 feet.
- Cell servicespotty
- Workable but flaky, a couple bars on Verizon. Download playlists, maps, and anything else you'll want before you lose signal.
- Bathroom trailers
- Real ones, on site. If you're able, keep using the outdoors for #1 so we don't overrun them mid-party.
- Trash trailerlocked nightly
- Dedicated trailer, secured every night to keep critters out. Contractor bags only so nothing leaks on the way out.
- River & lagoonLeave No Trace
- The river feeds a beautiful lagoon. Only biodegradable, eco-friendly products anywhere near the water, please.
- Communal firepit
- New this year. Bring camp chairs and any extra firewood you can fit in the car.
- First aid on site
- A stocked kit for minor scrapes. Bring any personal meds or supplies you specifically rely on.
- Campfire permitfree, year-round
- California needs a free permit for any open flame, BBQ, grill, or stove. Grab one at readyforwildfire.org/permits and bring a printed copy if you'll use one.
The List
What to bring
The basics. Build out from here based on how you camp.
Shade you can set up
A canopy, tarp, or umbrella. Daytime sun is going to be pretty direct and there isn't much natural cover in the camping areas.
Water. 1 to 2 gallons per person per day
Plus something to drink it from. A jug, hydration pack, or bottles you can refill from regularly. Bring some to share with friends. Otherwise we drinking river water.
Sturdy shoes or boots
The ground is rocky and the walk to camp and down to the river is hilly. Flip-flops will not survive the trek, bring something that will.
A real sleep setup
A thick air mattress (14+ inches) or a raised cot. The ground is hard and stony, so a thin pad will have you feeling every rock.
Warm layers for night
Fleece, furs, cozy stuff. It tends to get cold at night so don't let it dampen your vibe. Slow your roll? Harsh your mellow? Idk.
Sun stuff
Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses. Reapply often, the sun is our enemy.
Eco-friendly toiletries
Biodegradable sunscreen, body wash, shampoo, and soap. Everything drains toward the river and lagoon, so keep what goes on your skin clean and earth-friendly.
Swim stuff
There's a river right on site and the daytime sets will be down by the water. Bring a swimsuit, a floaty, a towel, and maybe an extra chair to post up with.
Heavy-duty contractor trash bags
Please please get proper heavy duty bags so your friends aren't hungover and covered in trash juice after the weekend is wrapped.
The Forecast
